* Ventura County Museum of History and Art, 100 E. Main St., Ventura, 653-0323. Has a display area, upstairs library and a big stuffed bear that overlooks both.
* County Cultural Heritage Board, County Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura, 654-3967. It has information on property history and local landmarks.
* Foster Library, 651 E. Main St., Ventura, 648-2715. Along with reference and historical work, the county library has information on tracing genealogy.
* Naval Construction Battalion Center Museum, or Seabee Museum, just past the gate at Ventura Road and Sunkist Street, Port Hueneme, 982-5163.
