Theodore (Ted) Blair; Retired Air Force Captain

Theodore (Ted) R. Blair, a retired U.S. Air Force captain who served in two wars, has died in Lancaster. He was 68.

Blair died Thursday of a stroke, said his daughter, Linda Blair.

Born Aug. 17, 1922, in Paia, Maui, Blair came to California as a child and graduated from Huntington Park High School. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps as a P-47 fighter pilot in Europe. He also served in the the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a radar aircraft controller in Germany.

After he retired from the military in 1957 at the rank of captain, he moved to Palmdale and worked for Lockheed Corp. in the material and records department until his retirement in 1984.

Blair was a longtime member of the Palmdale Masonic Lodge No. 769, the Palmdale Elks Club No. 2027 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 39 in Lancaster.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Phyllis; son, Thomas of Tehachapi; daughter, Linda of Huntington Beach and brother, Arthur of Lynwood.

A funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at the Palmdale Masonic Lodge No. 769, 2231 E. Avenue Q. Burial will be private. Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Palmdale is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Blair’s name to the Disabled American Veterans No. 39 in Lancaster.
