Regarding Chris Willman’s Sept. 2 article on Sinead O’Connor and Madonna competing for MTV awards:
While critics might fault Cyndi Lauper for her friendliness with professional wrestlers, at least it is evident that she loves men.
Madonna’s harlot/gold-digger persona seems to draw young girls who hope to achieve the same level of sluttishness; and when, on the video, O’Connor sings Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” I can’t help but think she needed a mirror to be convincing.
It all makes me want to play Patsy Cline’s “Crazy.”
