No Iraqi journalist has turned up to cover the superpower summit in Finland.

The Finnish organizers said Saturday that no Iraqis had applied for accreditation but that they would be welcome if they did.

More than 2,100 journalists, camera operators and support technicians did turn up for today’s talks between President Bush and Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev--one of the biggest media events ever staged in Scandinavia.

Officials said 500 more journalists turned out for the hastily arranged one-day summit than for the 1975 signing of the Helsinki Final Act that enshrines international agreements on human rights, security and economic cooperation.
