Glendora : Recycling Program Planned
To help meet its state-required waste-reduction goal, the Glendora City Council Tuesday authorized a recycling program for paper, plastic, glass and metal. The program is scheduled to begin in March, 1991, and will cost residents an extra $1.20 per month for trash collection.
Assistant City Manager Keene Wilson said that if 50% of the residents cooperate, the program will reduce the city’s trash by 3% or 4%. The state requires the city to reduce its waste by 50% by the year 2000.
Councilman David Bodley said the city should move ahead quickly on a plan to recycle yard waste, which during the summer accounts for 40% of the city’s trash.
