GM Air Bags

After reading Martin Schram’s column (“GM Foot-Drags to Safer Cars,” Commentary, Sept. 5), your readers may be confused about General Motors’ plans to offer passenger-side air bags in its cars.
General Motors will phase passenger-side air bags into its cars beginning with 1992 models.
By the 1996 model year, GM will be offering passenger-side as well as driver-side systems in all of its domestically designed cars.
