Construction Statistics: The slowdown in office construction in Orange County has also been noticed by the Construction Industry Research Board, which gathers building statistics for the industry.
In fact, says the board, construction of office buildings is down almost everywhere in the state.
In Orange County, permits for office construction dropped by a third in value during the first seven months of the year, from $210 million to $140 million.
Store construction was up in the county, as it was across the state. But construction of industrial buildings fell in the county, the board said, by about 22%. Last year, local governments issued permits for $70 million worth of industrial construction, compared to $54 million in the first seven months of 1990.
