SOUTHLAND : Transient, 45, Shot in Van Nuys
A 45-year-old transient was in extremely critical condition this morning after he was found shot several times in a Van Nuys alley known as a drug-trafficking area, Los Angeles police said.
The victim’s name was not released pending notification of his family.
Detective James Vojtecky said the man was found at 12:45 a.m. in an alley behind the 6600 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue. Patrol officers found the victim after several residents in the area called police and reported hearing numerous gunshots.
“No motive has been established for the shooting. However, the area is a known as a location where narcotics transactions occur,” Vojtecky said.
In April a man was shot to death in the same alley during a drug deal, Vojtecky said.
