Arturo G. Gasparini; Retired Radio Technician

Arturo G. Gasparini, who served as a radio technician for the Burbank Police Department, has died at his Canoga Park residence. He was 64.

Gasparini died Monday of cancer, his wife, Karin Gasparini, said.

Gasparini, a native of Puerto Rico, served in World War II and the Korean War in communications, achieving the rank of U.S. Army sergeant first class. He came to California in the mid-1950s, and in 1967 went to work for the Burbank Police Department as a radio technician, a position he held until his retirement in late 1985. He lived in Canoga Park for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years; a son, Roy Gasparini of Chatsworth; three daughters, Sonja Baldarama of Woodland Hills, Linda C. Gasparini of Canoga Park and Carmen Gonzalez of Haverhill, Mass.; mother, Providenzia Gasparini of Aibonito, Puerto Rico; two brothers; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be private. Pierce Brothers Praiswater Funeral Home in Canoga Park is handling the arrangements.
