PRO FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAMS : Fullbacks Get Into End Zone on a Pass

Share

With three tailbacks sharing the load, the Rams might not have their traditional 1,000-yard rusher this season. They might, however, end up with the two most efficient fullbacks around.

Robert Delpino caught two passes during Sunday’s victory over Tampa Bay, both for touchdowns, and leads the team in scoring. Buford McGee caught one pass, a six-yarder worth six points.

Cleveland Gary may be the tailback of the future for the Rams, but he doesn’t figure to dominate the position until he can shake off the effects of the lower back injury that has hampered him since early in training camp.

He carried the ball eight times for 42 yards in the second half Sunday, but says his back still bothers him.

“It feels good to get going,” Gary said, “but it’s still a little sore. I’m just not 100%. You get those twinges. It’s getting better, though, slowly.”
