THE SIDELINES : Gary Sheffield Out of Hospital

Brewers’ infielder Gary Sheffield has been released from a Texas hospital where he was admitted last Friday, and Manager Tom Trebelhorn says drugs were ruled out as a cause of his ailment.

Trebelhorn said he still has not received a diagnosis of Sheffield’s condition. He also said he expects Sheffield will need approval from the Brewers’ medical staff before playing again.

“I would think with a guy who has been in the hospital for five days with an unknown ailment, we’ll need from our people clearance to participate,” Trebelhorn said.
