San Marino : Annexation Plan Criticized

Share

Two residents, speaking for a group of young families who recently moved to San Marino, objected last week to the proposed annexation of an unincorporated county neighborhood on the city’s northern border.

Robert Reed and Carol Poore told the City Council that they undertook great financial sacrifices to move to San Marino so their children could attend the city’s highly rated schools. Both said annexing less desirable county areas could have a negative effect on the schools and city.

City Atty. Steve Dorsey said the Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission oversees the annexation process. Mayor Suzanne Crowell said the council will soon hold a special meeting on annexation. She asked that residents, meanwhile, send to the council their written objections.
