Recycling Not a Joke

Share

I was disheartened last week when I read Michele Mooney’s letter Aug. 30 on recycling machines. I understand her frustration with malfunctioning machinery; however, she has missed the point. “A concerned citizen” does not need monetary incentives to recycle. There are several crucial concerns that motivate one to recycle despite the inconvenience and lack of direct financial gain. Recycling is not a joke. Reducing waste and pollution will require large amounts of effort and cooperation, but a cleaner, safer environment should be sufficient reward.
