French Ship Delayed

TOULON, France —
TWO ships carrying French military vehicles to Saudi Arabia left the southern port of Toulon on Thursday, but a third ship carrying the first of 4,000 French troops being deployed was delayed when sailors demanded hazardous duty bonuses.
The troops will participate in a U.S.-led multinational force deployed in the Persian Gulf region in response to Iraq’s Aug. 2 invasion of Kuwait.
