NATION : Barry Meets College Protesters
Mayor Marion Barry met today with protest leaders at the University of the District of Columbia, where students are occupying two buildings and demanding the resignation of most of the school’s trustees.
Mark Thompson, a protest leader at the 12,000-student public university, said the demonstration was prompted by “our disgust with the board of trustees.”
Thompson said the students will remain in the buildings until the administration meets a list of demands, including one that Barry dismiss 11 of the school’s 15 trustees.
