WORLD IN BRIEF : LEBANON : Squeeze Tightened on Aoun’s Enclave

President Elias Hrawi’s army closed all crossing points into renegade Gen. Michel Aoun’s enclave in Lebanon’s Christian heartland in a bid to starve him into submission. A communique from Hrawi’s army command said that only diplomats, Red Cross officials and lawmakers will be allowed to drive into Aoun’s zone. Civilians are allowed to cross on foot. The move tightened an economic blockade imposed by Hrawi’s government on July 30. Aoun refuses to recognize Hrawi’s presidency.
