A summary of Southern California-related business litigation developments during the past week.

Frederick’s Sued Over Photographs: A Los Angeles photographer sued Frederick’s of Hollywood, contending that the lingerie firm infringed on his copyright on photographs taken after Frederick’s expressed interest in hiring him last year. The federal lawsuit filed by James B. Wood Photography says Frederick’s “surreptitiously obtained, copied and distributed” its photographs without ever employing Wood. In the suit, Wood said he is known for his “soft focus” technique, which Federick’s allegedly used in lingerie photos appearing in its 1989 annual report. The suit said Wood obtained copyrights on 19 photographs he took for Frederick’s before the report’s release. Deulofeu-Wilson Advertising Inc. also is a defendant in the suit, which seeks damages and to stop Frederick’s from using the photos. (Court Case No. 90-5175. Filed Sept. 25, 1990)
