Maker of Detroit Locker Sues L.A. Brand: Dyneer Corp., the Michigan maker of an auto anti-spin device called the Detroit Locker, sued a Toluca Lake firm that manufactures an alleged knockoff known as LA Locker. In the federal suit against Industrial Products Co., Dyneer contends that it holds trademark rights to the Detroit Locker, which it manufactured for more than 20 years. In 1989, Industrial Products began using the LA Locker trademark on a similar device, which provides greater traction by preventing an auto’s wheels from spinning independently. The suit seeks to stop Industrial Products from using the LA Locker name on its product in ads. Profits and unspecified treble damages also are being sought. (Court Case No. 90-5175. Filed Sept. 25, 1990)
