High Winds Lash Much of Nation; 3 Hurt in South

Strong winds lashed much of the South, Northeast, Great Lakes, northern plains and Pacific Northwest on Thursday, and a tornado in Mississippi flipped over mobile homes, weather officials said.
The twister sliced through northeastern Mississippi, overturning at least two mobile homes and injuring two people, the National Weather Service reported. High winds and possibly a tornado hit Royal, Ala., injuring one person.
Winds gusted to 63 m.p.h. at Livingston, Mont., and gusts of 50 m.p.h. were common elsewhere in the northern plains. High wind advisories were posted for Montana, Minnesota and the Dakotas.
Gale warnings were posted for Lake Erie, Lake Huron and Lake Ontario and along the coasts of Washington and Oregon.
