AZUSA —
The City Council last week voted unanimously to appoint Byron Nelson chief of police.
Nelson, 50, has been acting chief since July, when Lloyd Wood left to head the Pomona Police Department.
A 22-year veteran of the force, Nelson previously served as a felony investigator, patrol sergeant and detective sergeant. He was captain of the administrative division of the department at the time of his promotion to interim chief.
