Mobil Is Acquiring Tucker Housewares

Mobil Corp. has agreed to buy the Tucker Housewares business of Hanson Industries for $185 million.

Tucker is the country’s second-biggest maker of plastic housewares. It has 800 employees in Leominster; Kingman, Ariz., and Arlington, Texas,

Mobil spokesman John Lord said the company will “absolutely not” lay off any employees. “We plan to grow the company,” he said.

The acquisition of Tucker “positions us as a major manufacturer of injection molding” products, Lord said.
