FileNet Corp., a maker of computerized document processing machines, said Monday that it expects to report a loss of $500,000 for its third quarter ended Sept. 30, compared to a loss of $1.8 million a year earlier.

Revenues are expected to be $22 million, up 18% from $18.6 million a year earlier. FileNet said it shipped 19 systems during the quarter, compared to 18 systems a year ago.

The company had announced earlier that it expected its third-quarter earnings to be lower than expected, saying customers were delaying orders because of concern about the economy and turmoil in the Middle East. The company’s projections were in line with most current Wall Street estimates.

The company said it expects to release final results for the quarter by Oct. 22.

FileNet supplies equipment that is used by businesses and government agencies to convert paper records into electronic data that computers can understand.
