Advanced Micro Devices: The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based computer chip maker reported a third-quarter loss of $17.8 million, contrasted with a profit of $12.1 million in the same period a year ago. Revenue declined 7.5% to $254.2 million. The company said heavy spending on new equipment and facilities and a soft market for some chips dampened results.
