Woodrow W. Scott; Retired Restaurant Owner

Woodrow W. Scott, who owned a restaurant in Pacoima for 17 years, has died at his Sun Valley home. He was 72.

A longtime resident of Sun Valley, Scott died Saturday of lung cancer, said his son, Michael Scott.

Born in De Valls Bluff, Ark., he served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1945. Known as Scott to his friends, he worked as a truck driver for many years. In 1966, he bought Wendell’s Chicken House in Pacoima, which he operated until his retirement in 1983. Scott belonged to the Westlake Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rausey Scott; sons Michael Scott of Sun Valley and Patrick Scott of Bakersfield; brothers Johnny Scott and Raymond Scott of Clarendon, Ark.; sisters Frances Bailey of Memphis, Tenn., Ruth Simmons of Helena, Ark., and Mary Gray of Clarendon, Ark.; and one granddaughter.

A graveside service is scheduled at 1 p.m. today at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 13017 N. Lopez Canyon Road in San Fernando. Glen Haven Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
