AMR Corp.: The parent of American Airlines reported third-quarter net income of $65.6 million, a drop of 52% from a year ago. Revenue grew 12% to $3.05 billion. The firm, based at the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport, attributed the results to the rapidly escalating price of fuel. The figures came despite new profitable routes in Central and South America, double-digit growth in cargo revenue and traffic and the continued strong performance of the American Eagle regional airline network.
