Westcorp Inc.: The Irvine-based diversified financial services company said its third-quarter earnings more than doubled to $2.8 million from $1.3 million in the year-earlier period. Earnings for the first nine months of 1990 rose 57% to $11 million from $7 million. Assets at the end of September totaled $3.1 billion, 7% higher than the $2.9 billion recorded for the like period last year.
