Beverly Enterprises Inc.: The Ft. Smith, Ark.-based nursing home company reported third-quarter net income of $5.7 million, up from $929,000 a year ago. Revenue was up 1% to $540.4 million. The company attributed the sharply higher earnings to a new marketing campaign and increased Medicaid rates.
