13 Killed, 17 Missing in Czech Mine Blast

PRAGUE, Czechoslovakia —
An explosion Thursday in a Moravian coal mine left 13 miners dead and 17 missing, Czechoslovak state television reported.
Three miners were reported badly hurt in the blast, which occurred during tunneling work at the May 1 mine in the Ostrava-Karvina district in northern Moravia.
