HUNTINGTON BEACH : Golden West Readies for 25th Anniversary
Golden West College officials plan to celebrate the school’s 25th anniversary next year in a big way, and a committee has been named to prepare gala events.
Faculty and staff members, alumni, students and community representatives on the panel are planning eight months of festivities that will begin in September, 1991, committee chairman John Wordes said.
The silver anniversary will be different than the college’s 1986-87 celebration of its 20th year, said Wordes, who has been on the faculty since the college opened in September, 1966.
Whereas the 20-year anniversary focused upon the achievements of faculty and alumni, next year’s celebration will include the surrounding community, he said.
