South Pasadena : Setback for Condo Project
A nine-unit condominium project in the planning stages for more than three years received another setback Wednesday when the City Council rejected the developers’ request to build a higher-than-permitted front wall.
Developers of the proposed complex at 167-175 Monterey Road now must wait at least a year before submitting revamped plans.
During a public hearing, residents living near the 46,500-square-foot site complained that the design of the proposed complex is incompatible with the neighborhood. They also argued that the complex would disrupt the hillside ecology.
The vote was 4 to 1, with Councilman James Woollacott Jr. dissenting.
