P.M. BRIEFING : MD-11 Sets Record to Korea
Douglas Aircraft Co.’s new MD-11 commercial jetliner set a speed record during a test flight from Dallas to the South Korean capital of Seoul, the company said.
The three-engine jet covered 7,266 miles without stopping in 14 hours and 50 minutes on Tuesday, the company said.
The record was set as part of the MD-11’s certification flight test program with the Federal Aviation Administration.
Douglas said it had applied to register the flight as a point-to-point speed record with the International Federation of Aeronautics.
