CSX Transportation Orders Locomotives

ERIE, Pa —
GE Transportation Systems of Erie has received a three-year, $200-million contract from CSX Transportation Inc. to build 150 locomotives, officials have announced.
The agreement calls for the delivery of 50 locomotives each year from 1991 to 1993, said Jerry R. Davis, president of CSX Rail Transport, the operating arm of CSX Transportation. The order is for GE’s newest 4,000-horsepower, six-axle Dash 8-40C locomotive.
