P.M. BRIEFING : Diamond-Star Plans New Series

DETROIT —
Chrysler Corp. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said today they will jointly produce and develop a new series of models at Diamond-Star Motors Corp., their 50-50 joint venture in Normal, Ill.
The two car makers said a memorandum of understanding calls for a new line of two-door coupes, three-door sporty cars and a four-door sedan to be built by Diamond-Star, which was incorporated in 1985 but did not start selling cars until January, 1989. The plant builds the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Mirage, Plymouth Laser and Eagle Talon and Summit cars.
