Santa Ana Racer Driven to Defend Title

Wayne Stanfield of Santa Ana and partner Alan Travis of Phoenix, Ariz., will endeavor to defend their title beginning today in the Chevrolet Greatrace West, an antique automobile race from Reno, Nev., to the Queen Mary in Long Beach.

Stanfield and Travis will drive a 1916 Egge Machine Co. Mitchell. The winning team will receive $31,000. The course is 990 miles, and the race is expected to end Sunday.
