I am a clinical psychologist and work with many cancer patients. My goal is to help these patients work through their anxieties when threatened with this dreadful disease. Some individuals may be able to extend their lives through psychological intervention in addition to their medical treatment.

It would be difficult to understand how anyone who has ever faced a patient or a friend with cancer could vote other than “Yes” on Proposition C, the medical research initiative on the November ballot.

We need more understanding of cancer patients and we need more research in this area. Proposition C would contribute greatly to these efforts. The loss of every cancer patient is a tragedy.
