From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The government agreed to cut a 70% gasoline price increase in half, prompting some cabdrivers to lift protest blockades that have caused gridlock across Hungary. Shortly after hearing the decision, the drivers moved vehicles blocking one of Budapest’s bridges over the Danube River. It is not known whether the 35% price increase will be supported by all the thousands of protesting cabbies and truck drivers whose vehicles have clogged Hungarian streets and highways since the initial price hike was announced last week.
