FULLERTON : New Director at Library Sets Goals
The city has hired Albert Milo as the new director of the Fullerton Public Library system, replacing Carolyn Johnson, who retired in September after 45 years with the city.
Milo said his priorities will be the formation of a citywide literacy coalition and the installation of a computerized catalogue system, which he wants to complete by the next fiscal year.
“I think the literacy problem is crucial,” he said. “The city does have some scattered programs, but the program needs organization.”
Milo, 39, was appointed by the library’s Board of Trustees and City Manager William C. Winter. He took his post last week. As director, Milo will oversee a budget of about $2.8 million and a library system that includes the Main Library, Hunt Branch Library and the Bookmobile, a popular service that brings books to various neighborhoods.
