Ocean Dumping Ban to Be Considered: Delegates from more than 60 nations are meeting in London to debate a proposed global ban on ocean dumping of industrial waste. But the United States intends to seek further study before agreeing to a ban. Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden are calling for dumping at sea to be phased out by 1995. About 80% of ocean pollution is generated on land, of which 10% is industrial waste.
