THOUSAND OAKS : Council Candidates to Meet at Forum

All nine Thousand Oaks City Council candidates are scheduled to square off at a forum Thursday on issues ranging from the economy to limiting council members’ terms.

The 7 p.m. forum will be held at Thousand Oaks City Hall, 2150 W. Hillcrest Drive. It will be moderated by Carol Larson, a member of the American Assn. of University Women. The forum is sponsored by the AAUW, the League of Women Voters and the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Candidates will be given three minutes for opening statements, followed by a question-and-answer period.

Each candidate has been provided with questions they might be asked on such issues as the economy’s impact on the city, affordable housing, transportation and traffic, regional coordination of governments and term limits for council members.

Written questions also will be taken from the audience.

The candidates for City Council are Mayor Alex Fiore; Ray Grams, a financial consultant; Councilman Lawrence E. Horner; Bob Hughes, former radio station director; Planning Commissioner Judy Lazar; Robert O’Brien, former city building director; Patricia Halfhill, an investigator for attorneys; Michael Markey, a Compton police detective; and Elois Zeanah, president of the Conejo League of Homeowners.

There are three seats open on the council. Councilman Tony Lamb is not seeking reelection.
