Homestead Financial Corp.: The parent of Homestead Savings posted third-quarter profit of $765,000, contrasted with a loss of $1.5 million a year earlier. The Millbrae, Calif., firm attributed the results to a 9% decline in general and administrative expenses, reduced personnel and other operating expenses and a 6% gain in retail deposits.
