Two Van Nuys men have been arrested in connection with a monthlong string of armed robberies that targeted San Fernando Valley pizza shops, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.

Leroy Williams, 20, and Christian Roker, 23, both former pizza deliverymen, are suspected of committing as many as 20 robberies since Oct. 2, Detective Richard Schauer said. Nine of those robberies were of pizzerias; the rest were of other restaurants or of pedestrians, Schauer said.

The two men were arrested early Monday after a five-day investigation by robbery detectives. During the investigation, officers staked out pizza shops around the Valley and waited for suspicious-looking customers.

Williams and Roker were noticed watching a Domino’s Pizza store at 16733 Ventura Blvd. Police said they suspect the two men also were involved in the robbery of a hamburger stand and a pedestrian in North Hollywood hours before their arrests.

Police confiscated a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun believed to have been used in all the robberies, Schauer said.

Williams and Roker are each being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
