Fairchild Sued Over Toxic Cleanup: Rohr Industries Inc. of Chula Vista sued Fairchild Industries Inc., both makers of aircraft parts, for breach of contract and the costs of cleaning up toxics from land that Fairchild sold to Rohr. The Los Angeles Federal Court lawsuit said the 1987 purchase agreement Rohr had with the Chantilly, Va., firm required Fairchild to indemnify Rohr for up to $20,000 for any liability claims stemming from the property in Hagerstown, Md. It also certified that the property was in compliance with all laws, the suit said. Rohr said the state found the former site contaminated with hazardous chemicals two years later and ordered Rohr to clean it up. The suit seeks at least $20,000 in cleanup costs and other unspecified damages. (Case No. 90- 5838. Filed Oct. 30, 1990)
