A teen-ager who escaped with two others from a California Youth Authority facility near Saugus on Halloween night was captured by deputies who chased the stolen car he was driving in Lancaster, authorities said Sunday.

Corey Lee Jacobs, 19, of Lancaster was taken into custody early Saturday after a sheriff’s search dog found him hiding in the back yard of a residence near Avenue H-13 and 15th Street West, deputies said. Jacobs was the last of three youths to be arrested after their escape from the Camp Fenner facility located in the hills above Bouquet Canyon on Wednesday.

The two others, believed to have escaped in a stolen car, were arrested Thursday in Ventura County. Jacobs allegedly stole a second car, which deputies saw in Lancaster on Saturday and chased after the driver failed to pull over, authorities said.

After a minor collision between the stolen car and a sheriff’s vehicle, Jacobs ran off but was apprehended after about an hour, deputies said. Jacobs was treated at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center for dog bites and was transferred to the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Station, where he was being held on charges stemming from the escape and pursuit, deputies said.

Authorities would not disclose on what charges the youths were being held at Camp Fenner, citing confidentiality of Juvenile Court proceedings.
