ALR Plans Rival ‘Dual-Processor’ PC

Share

Advanced Logic Research Inc. said Tuesday that it plans to introduce a “dual-processor” personal computer intended to compete with a product introduced last year by Houston-based Compaq Computer Corp.

The Irvine company said its Powerpro model, based on Intel Corp.’s i486 microprocessor, can operate the same software developed for the Compaq Systempro personal computer.

ALR’s new machine will range in price from $7,500 to $25,000, depending on storage capacity and other options, said Dave Kirkey, vice president of marketing.

The Powerpro machine is designed with more than one microprocessor--the central brain of a computer--to increase its speed and performance.
