Ethnicity in America

Share

I certainly can relate to Anne Kim’s treatment at the hands of her fellow Americans.

But, unlike Ms. Kim, and because of my European last name and vaguely acceptable appearance (white), I have also had the unpleasant experience of hearing the most vile and racist comments and been forced to join in the “fun” because no one had been aware of my Latino background.

I wonder when European-Americans will embrace the idea that we are all created equal and reject the racism and ethnocentrism that has plagued this continent for the last 400 years?
