The Southern California economy, hit by a downturn in aerospace and an anticipated nationwide recession, will perform sluggishly next year but rebound in 1992, a business trade group predicted today.

“The year 1991 will not be easy, and there will continue to be wide mood swings in public and business confidence,” said Jack Kyser, chief economist for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. “But don’t get depressed, because we look for the area’s economy to gather momentum in 1992, and to perform quite well during the decade,” he said.
