Nicaragua’s Ex-President Ortega to Meet Hussein

MANAGUA, Nicaragua —
Former Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega will travel next week to Iraq to discuss the Persian Gulf crisis with President Saddam Hussein, the Sandinista newspaper Barricada reported Friday.
Barricada quoted Ortega, who ran the leftist Sandinista government before losing the presidency last February, as saying, “We cannot be absent at a time when world peace is at risk.”
