Struggling computer retailer Businessland Inc. named Edward Simon Jr., former president of Herman Miller Inc., as its president and chief operating officer. He succeeds David Norman, founder of the San Jose-based company, in the president’s post. Norman remains chairman and chief executive but will no longer oversee day-to-day operations. Norman had drawn criticism for failing to reverse four consecutive quarters of losses.
