Downey : 2 More Sites Proposed for Addition to Renewal Area
The Downey City Council on Tuesday proposed to expand its redevelopment area by another 10.9 acres. Last August, the council voted to study adding 54.7 acres to the redevelopment zones, which now total about 550 acres.
The areas proposed Tuesday--on the northwest corner of Lakewood Boulevard and Gallatin Road, and on Lakewood Boulevard north of Suva Street--include a restaurant and three office buildings.
A staff report said the restaurant and office buildings might be able to benefit from public improvements and other redevelopment assistance.
