Recycling Program to Start This Month

Share

The Rolling Hills City Council approved an agreement Monday with Browning-Ferris Industries to begin a recycling program in the city this month.

Under the terms of the agreement, BFI, which has been collecting residential waste in Rolling Hills since 1985, will collect recyclable aluminum, newspaper, glass and plastic that citizens deposit in seven 100-gallon bins behind City Hall on Portuguese Bend Road. The recycling program, which begins Nov. 26, is at no charge to the city, although BFI will keep the money earned from the recyclables.

City Manager Craig Nealis said the city decided not to offer a curbside recycling program because it would be too costly.
